[Adelaide Flag Signing] [Brisbane Flag Signing] [Canberra Flag Signing] [Melbourne Flag Signing] [Perth Flag Signing] [Project Aussie Hanson Flag] [Sydney Flag Signing]
Most of you will know about the Aussie Hanson Flag project. The idea behind the project was that it's impossible for Hanson to visit everywhere in Australia, so why not bring Australia to Hanson? So, in December 2003, the Aussie Hanson Flag began it's year long journey around Australia....
The flag travelled from fan to fan, with each fan sending the flag on to the next. To help speed up the process, and to encourage local Hanson fans to get together, "flag signing days" were held in most capital cities including Sydney, Perth, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Canberra. Many friendships were formed, and regular fan meets continue to occur.
Over 100 fans took part in the project, contributing their name to the flag and/or the Australian scrapbook. The end result, a unique gift from Hanson's Australian fans, showing their appreciation for Hanson and their music.
On Friday, November 19th, the flag's journey finally came to an end. The flag was presented to Hanson before their Sydney concert. The project was explained to the band, and then the flag and scrapbook presented to them.
Hanson were genuinely touched by your gift. They couldn't believe the amount of signatures on the flag, or all the time and effort that had been put into the flag and your scrapbook pieces. They mentioned that they were definately going to have the flag "framed". After spending a bit of time looking through the scrapbook, Hanson wanted a photo with the flag. (* Click to enlarge photo)
Hanson were excited about the gift and wanted to display their gratitude for the gift. They talked about hanging the flag up on stage during the concert that night, but later decided to carry ther flag onstage as the entered to play their Sydney show. That night Taylor proudly carried the flag over his shoulders, then bowed down to the crowd to show Hanson's gratitude, before placing the flag on his piano, where it remained throughout the concert. (Zac later retrieved the flag from the piano after the concert had ended, and safely stored it away so that they could take it back home with them).

* Thanks to the fan who shared this photo with us. You know who you are :)
We want to thank everyone who took part in this project, you helped to create a unique gift for Hanson... for those of you who didn't get a chance to take part in the project, this is still your project. The gift was from all Australian fans! Thanks to Hanson for bringing the flag onstage during their concert - this gesture touched many fans, who were excited and appreciative that you acknowleged their gift!
