Hanson MSN Chat - April 21st 2004

DishDiva says: Welcome to MSN Live! This afternoon we are pleased to welcome Hanson back to MSN Live. Hey guys, great to have you here. Congratulations on the new album "Underneath."
DishDiva says: Welcome guys!
DishDiva says: It's great to have you back onstage!
Hanson_Live says: Hey everybody, this is Taylor, Isaac, and Zac. Thanks for coming to this MSN chat, it's great to have you all here from around the world. Let's get started chatting.
DishDiva says: So how did the launch of "Underneath" go yesterday?
Hanson_Live says: Isaac: The launch was a very exciting day. We played some music out of Virgin MegaStore in NYC and that was fun. It was an emotional moment for all of us because the record has been so longcoming and to have it finally out to fans here and around the world, is a very exciting thing.
lil_angel_bg in Onstage_1 asks: Hi Hanson! The new album sounds a lot different. Why did you decide to change your sound?
Hanson_Live says: Taylor: You know, Angel Bug, we've always tried to change and evolve with each record. Hopefully the places we've gone with the album you'll like.
Hanson_Live says: Isaac: One of the reasons you hear a drastic change from "This Time Around" is also the time between records. There's more time and evolution and that's just the natural way things happen.
BrazilianDreamGirl1 in Onstage_1 asks: Hey guys! When Underneath will be realease in Brazil? Do you have palns to come back here in this year? *Jess_Belo Horizonte*
Hanson_Live says: Isaac: We will definitely be in Brazil and all throughout South America very soon. The release date is being planned and we will keep everyone informed when that will happen.
Hanson_Live says: Zac: We look forward to playing shows.
Hanson_Live says: Taylor: Thank you to all you Latin and South American fans, you've been great.
FHSfastpitch09 in Onstage_1 asks: Does the song "When You're Gone" have any religious meaning to it?
Hanson_Live says: Zac: It means a lot of things to us and there are a lot of direct thoughts from our hearts and minds that come into songwriting. Part of the fun is people taking things from the songs and applying them to their life and human condition.
ILoveToLoveRFOutLoud in Onstage_1 asks: Have you ever been star struck?
DishDiva says: I think we have a few star struck fans here today.
Hanson_Live says: Taylor: Don't be starstruck, but thank you for coming. We've definitely had that sensation, we've fans first, getting to meet people like Paul McCartney, Billy Joel, and U2, those are people we quaked in our books because those are artists that we are inspired by.
akaisha101 in Onstage_1 asks: I heard that you started your own label. How is that going for ya'll?
Hanson_Live says: Isaac: The record coming is going well. The most important thing about being independent is that it gets us closer to our audience. We just feel it was the right thing to do and we've had a great time so far. It's a lot of work but we're happy to be where we are.
Hanson_Live says: Taylor: It's always been a dream of ours to have the ability to shape our careers in this kind of way and hopefully all of you, and people that buy the music, and come to Hanson shows will only see the benifit of this to get closer to our fans.
princess4463979 in Onstage_1 asks: Who is the one person that you were so nervous to play for? Hanson_Live says: Isaac: Definitely the most nervous moment of my life was performing on stage to induct Brian Wilson into the Songwriter's Hall of Fame.
krissyinky in Onstage_1 asks: Will the tour this summer be general admission or seating? Everyone at h.net is curious! Hanson_Live says: Taylor: Paul McCartney inducted him so he said, "Now to pay a song by Brian Wilson - Hanson." You almost pee'd your pants.
Hanson_Live says: Zac: Right now we're figuring out who's going with us and as soon as we know that we'll get it on the website.
Hanson_Live says: Isaac: There will probably be a little of both.
MoseyTosey0887 in Onstage_1 asks: What are you going to release next? The documentary?
Hanson_Live says: Taylor: The documentary is ongoing because throughout this process we've considered releasing it and part of the story we wanted to tell hasn't happened yet. One of the things we're excited about is the Underneath Acoustic Live Concert and that will really enhance the experience of the show and tour.
DrumrGrl84 in Onstage_1 asks: Is it exciting to have your own record company?
Hanson_Live says: Isaac: Yes, it definitely is. As we said before the coolest thing about it is being closer to the audience and being involved in a direct level with how the record is released. Also the artistic freedom. We released "Underneath Acoustic" and that wouldn't be possible if we didn't form 3CG.
Moetwins in Onstage_1 asks: How do you like living in NYC? Do you plan on staying there?
Hanson_Live says: Zac: We love New York, we spend a lot of time here. The decision to live here was mostly with the record company but we enjoy being here.
CaitlinP741 in Onstage_1 asks: What do you miss about Tulsa the most?
Hanson_Live says: Zac: Driving!
Hanson_Live says: Isaac: Although Zac definitely missing driving the other thing about living in New York, we've spent more time in NYC and L.A. than Tulsa, so it's not that much different.
TayFanGermany in Onstage_1 asks: When will underneath release in Europe?
Hanson_Live says: Taylor: In regards to releasing the record outside of the U.S. we're really excited about putting it out and formulating that plan. One reason we've staggered the release is to be able to focus on that part of the world. So when we release a record we can be involved and energizing those fans in that part of the world.
HansonJunkieXx in Onstage_1 asks: Taylor, has being a father changed anything for you professionally? Did it inspire any of the new songs? How has it changed you?
Hanson_Live says: Taylor: A lot of the music on this record was written before my getting married and starting a family. It's a huge inspiration and of course there's nothing you could ever do that's more important than falling in love and getting married so it will always be something I draw support from.
PurpleInLove in Onstage_1 asks: Zac, what is "Lulla Belle" about? People are saying "Lulla Belle = "Hanson"...is that true?
Hanson_Live says: Lulla Belle=Hanson? Lulla Belle is about letting someone go because you can't give them what they need. It talks about "I put you down in a place from the stars" meaning you are the light of the world and I can't keep you down.
_naianna_ in Onstage_1 asks: Hi! My name's Naianna and I'm a huuuge fan from Sweden. I wanna know how did you get the inspiration to "Penny and Me"?
Hanson_Live says: Taylor: "Penny and Me" is all about music weaves in and out of your life and how it represents great moments and the people in your life whether they are with you or not. It's a love letter to music and how it can touch you and holding on to those great moments.
Hanson_Live says: Isaac: Also part of the song on a direct level it talks about traveling away from that person, and there's reference of that person not always being able to be with you, but the music can. Those memories will never leave you even if that person can't be with you.
mmm_kimmy in Onstage_1 asks: Hanson, which song on "Underneath" would you say was the most challenging song for you all to write/record? Keep rockin'! Kimberly, Calgary, Canada
Hanson_Live says: That's a good question.
RenaissanceGirl20 in Onstage_1 asks: What song was the hardest to write on the album?
Hanson_Live says: Taylor: This is not exactly the perfect answer, the song "Broken Angel" was an intense creation process, it was one of the first we were recording and did all the work. By the time we crafted it and finished it we had the confidence to produce a record on our own so that was a landmark song for that reason.
CrazyBeautiful_11 in Onstage_1 asks: I taped your very first TV special way back in 1997. Zac had many hilarious remarks. Zac, are you still the same 'ole hilarious you that everyone loves?
Hanson_Live says: Zac: I guess that's for your to decide. But I think I'm still a pretty funny guy.
Hanson_Live says: Taylor: Funny looking! (laughs)
Hanson_Live says: Isaac: Funny smelling. (laughs)
Tizbo1423 in Onstage_1 asks: So how about some Hanson remixes.."hanson's got the mmm to make your booty go bop" ::wink wink:: -Chrissy, NJ
Hanson_Live says: Isaac: There will be Hanson remixes. There are a couple for "Penny and Me" that are in the works and we may make them available on our website or through online distributors. Keep your eyes peeled and check Hanson.net.
pretty_green_eyez84 in Onstage_1 asks: Remember back in the day readign a question off a ball and it said, "what do you reckon that you'll be doing 5 years from now?" Well it's past 5 years. Are you happy with where Hanson is at? Jessica/IL
Hanson_Live says: Taylor: I definitely remember that moment. You're recalling a Long form video. We humbly decline to say we were going to be together for 5 years, but we knew we'd still be playing music. I don't think we ever imagined we'd be where we are, the great musical places we've gone and where we've visited.
Steggles_E04 in Onstage_1 asks: What is your ideal day off?
Hanson_Live says: Taylor: It all depends on what you're in the middle of. Right now we'd jump at sleep. (laughs)
Hanson_Live says: Zac: A warm sunny Monday afternoon in front of the History Channel. And because the logo is a big H.
Hanson_Live says: Isaac: (laughs) I take back the funny smelling comment. Zac is funny... looking. (laughs)
O_o_Kat_o_O in Onstage_1 asks: I really love you new cd, i think it's brilliant, can you tell us a bit more about it?
Hanson_Live says: Taylor: Thanks so much. I'm glad you like the record. There's so much to tell, we're really excited to have gone in the places we wanted to in this record. The openness on the album and the mellow songs were an important factor. Trying to convey emotions in songs is important. This is just another chapter. There's not enough time in this chapter to go into the deep dark caverns underneath.
erin_cash in Onstage_1 asks: If you had to choose one song to listen to until the day you die, what song would you choose?
Hanson_Live says: Isaac: I'm going to have to go with "She's Got a Way" by Billy Joel.
Hanson_Live says: Zac: "Tubthumping" by Chubbawumpa (lol)
Hanson_Live says: Taylor: "Long Way to the Top" because you have to rock out.
DishDiva says: Those three songs could not be any more different. (laughs)
Hanson_Live says: Hense Hanson.
Hanson_Live says: (laughs)
DishDiva says: Guys, thanks for stopping by MSN to chat with fans from around the world to talk about your new album "Underneath."
Hanson_Live says: Isaac: Thank you all very much for coming, thank you for your questions, it's been a lovely experience. We hope to be chatting with you all very soon. Hope you all enjoy the new record "Underneath" we'll talk to you soon.
Hanson_Live says: Zac: "I get knocked down... but I get up again." (laughs) ...
Hanson_Live says: Taylor: As always check Hanson.net for the latest information, we're also doing a special promotion on the website this week so check it out!
